  1. i was playin around a few weeks ago and found some interesting things about theses 2 proggies.for one you can convert the mp2 audio with tmpeg.just have to do it by it self.and for two they work great together.i just wish tmpeg dvd author put the audio in the audio ts folder.but the dvdr came out great and i have converted a svcd and a vcd to dvd with tmpeg and it came out fine.but i wrote this to tell u how i did it.if it works for u feel free to tell me.i need constructive comments to do better next tim.lol.any way here it is:

ok this is only my second help file for newbiews tryin to make movies play on cds.i made one befor on how to make one cd vcds but i don't think it was much help so i will try harder this time.

    the tools:
    TMPEG DVD AUTHOR
    TMPEG PLUS
    nero xxxxx
    a dvd burner
and about 4 hours(it may or may not take this long)

Ok first off if you don't know to much about them here is a site(www.dvdrhelp.com) that i have used countless times for help.and unfortunatly it did not tell me what i am about to tell u.But it is the best site to get u started.

ok if you don't know by now u need the video in dvd mpeg to play on dvdr's.this is pretty simple.in either avi or mpeg you can convert to dvd mpeg.all u have to do is open tmpeg plus and(u can use the wizard if you want but i am gona tell u the way i use it.to some the wizard my be easier)click on video source and look for the avi or mpeg u wish to put on dvdr.now the video and audio source should have the same thing in it.if they don't don't worry about it cause u may need to convert the audio seperate anyway.but make sure the movie has audio or your screwed.now u can just convert the video cause when u finally put it all together it will sound and look nice.so do video only in the stream type.now if you previewed the movie befor, u don't have to go in to settings and play with anything.just hit load and click the dvd ntsc/pal (witch ever country you r in) and check to see if the output folder is right.then hit start.this should take anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on the speed of the comp u r on.

ok the mpeg video is done right.next step is the audio.now tmpeg may be able to do them at the same time but i did it this way to make sure it did the audio.it only takes about 25 to 35 minutes to convert the audio to mp2.so what u do is once again open tmpeg click on audio source look for the movie in the format it was befor u converted it to dvd mpeg and select it.now go to stream type and click audio only.then hit settings.on some movies u will be able to change sampling freq but don't.leave it at 48000 cause this is the freq for dvd.u can how ever change the channel mode i leave it in stereo but u can put it in dual channal or joint stereo depends on how u like it.leave everything else the way they r and hit ok.now u r ready to convert the audio.befor u hit start check to see if it is outputting to the folder u want it to go.it doesn't have to go to the same folder the video went to.u just got to remember where u sent it so u can tell tmpeg dvd where it is.now that that is straitend out hit start and it should convert the audio to mp2.

ok now that the audio and video are converted to the right format now u have to get it ready to be put on dvdr.i like this little tool cause its so much faster and u can create menus if u want to add more than one.open tmpeg dvd author.at the top of the screen hit source setup.then hit add file(its to your right)another little nice screen will pop up.it will say clip name(type the clip name) video settings and audio settings.hit browse and look for the video only file u made with tmpeg in video settings and then go to audio settings and look for the audio only file you made.it should be checked at audio input type: stereo (2 channel) everything is good if that is .now hit ok.now u are back at the source set up with a thumbnail of the film u r tryin to put on dvd.now u can look to your left and hit settings and add chapters if you want its pretty cut and dry there if you have done that or you just want to creat menus hit the creat menu button on the top of the screen.now you should see 4 boxes a drag down box a edit menu button display menu settings button and a drag down fisrt play box.you can edit the way you want the menu to look in here or you can go to the drag down boxon the left and hit no menu and then hit the output button.now unless u have changed anything in the options /environmental settings a folder will be created namedc volume 1.thats good cause u can chage it later.hit browse and look for where u want the folder to go.after that u hit begin output.and let it go to work.this should take up to an hour.after its done the video_ts and audio_ts folders will be in a folder called volume 1.then its all good u r ready for burn.(now i did notice that the audio folder had nothing in it but there is audio in the movie so don't freak out)

    now for the burn.

open nero don't use express cause you will just be confused if u use express just hit the nero option at the bottom and the new compilation window will open up.scroll down to DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO) option go to lable and put the name of the movie in and then go to burn.now a slow speed is good i have a 4x so i burned it at 2xso put a slow speed in write speed and how ever many copys u want and hit new.look for the folder volume 1 and open it and u will see video _ts and audio_ts.drag and drop them both to the middle window and hit burn.now nero will do its thing and then ask u if you want to burn it as a multi session or single.older ps2's won't play multi session so burn as a single unless u want to try to burn as multi either way it will play on most stand alone dvd players.and just let it rip.

now u have a avi/vcd/svcd made in to a dvd and ready to watch.have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just wish tmpeg dvd author put the audio in the audio ts folder
Why do you wish that? If it put the audio in the audio ts folder then the DVD probably wouldn't play in your DVD player.

LOL. He meant well I guess. I think he may get a few pointers coming up. Like if you're already in dvd author, why bother with nero, just continue on and burn with dvd author (assuming you have one of the lastest ones). Havent had a coaster yet. As far as time to do all this, hmmmm, ok, I'm guessing he isnt using a p4 with HT. LOL
