99.999% of the DVD Recorders on the market today create a Region 0 DVD. And they cannot be switched from PAL or NTSC as far as recording goes. Whatever the incoming signal is (PAL or NTSC).....THAT is what you get on your DVDR....only now it will be Region 0.
They are also VERY good at recognizing Copy Protection. If the DVD or VHS tape you are copying is protected....the machine WILL NOT copy it.
    I own a Philips DVDR985.

  3. If you are talking about a Standalone Set Top DVD Recorder then they do not record in any particular region.
If the machine is purchased within the US then it will be Region 1 and will therefore only play region 1 retail/pressed DVDs, however if you are recording/burning on the recorder this will play in any region, however it will be down to media compatability as to how succesfull you will be getting the disc to play in multiple machines.

I do not know of any multi-region vendors in the US, if it is a multi region player you need, as I live in the UK and use www.techtronics.com

  4. The problem is that most DVD recorders don't record in PAL. Philips recorders can record in both PAL/NTSC without conversion.
However you won't get a PAL tuner in the US model so you may as well
just buy in Europe the PAL version (which should be able to record in NTSC).

Another issue is that not all European DVD players can playback NTSC (but most though).

In the USA most model/make stand alone DVD recorders will only record NTSC although the DVD you record will be region free.

The only USA model that does PAL (as far as I know) is the Philips but even then it does no conversion.

In other words if you input PAL it records only to PAL and if you input NTSC it records only to NTSC.

These matches are on PAL VHS version ( My own collection - no copyrights)

If i burn them on DVD, will these work on USA region 1 Players?
and also on UK region 2 Players?

    Please let me know

    Sorry....wasn't paying attention.
Is Pakistan PAL? I forget....but most likely PAL.
Anyway....Either PAL or NTSC....the DVD's you create will be Region Free.
If the PAL DVD you create is going to the U.S.....chances are FAIR it will be able to be viewed. The person receiving the DVD from you must have some knowledge of PAL and NTSC for him(or her) to be able to watch it. If it is going to the U.K.....NO PROBLEM. But most important...you cannot choose which format in a DVD Recorder. If your incoming signal is PAL....you get a PAL DVD.
No matter what you purchase...those cricket videos will turn out PAL.

  11. I don't believe that Recorders will convert. Some more info about Recorder sold in US can be found here.
