I see in using NERO 5.0 that you can use its "Wizard" to make a VCD.

But, I need one in which not only MPEG files are burned into the CD-R but other files (autostart/Menu/Icon) can be burned along with the MPEG(s)

However, when I try to drag and drop those types of files I get a message that the non MPEG files are non MEPG.

I just like to know can a VCD CD have non MPEG files on it. And if so how.

Or if I need to make a CD that will play on both a computer and a stand alone DVD player I have to make 2 versions?

One with just video files for the DVD player

And one for computers with both video and non video files?

I am not working on my own PC at the moment, so I can't check what I tell you now, but this is what I remember:

You must not copy the non MPEG files to the large track window, but to the smaller window that displays different folders. If you want you can copy files to the root of the CD, but you can also make a new folder and copy files into it.

I think I know what you mean, but, It seems that there are already files in that "little window."

    Where would I put them?

Like I tried to explain, you can place files in the root of the CD, or you can create a new folder (right-click and select "Create Folder") and then place the files in the new folder. Just like you would do when creating a normal data CD. Do not place the files in the folders that already exists, these are the standard folders for a VCD.
Just try it, you can always leave Nero without creating a CD. Btw, you can enlarge the "little window" by using your mouse.

  5. CorneliusJ is correct. I do this occasionally, when I throw MP3s on a disc. Drag into the small window on the far left, and drop onto the CD title, but not onto the other folders, or your item will be put into them. I'm sure you want your autorun out in the open by itself.

Hoi, Try what I do with AUDIO,

burn your VCD but do NOT finalize the cd !
Then after burning you make your normal (data)-cd !
I'll do this with audio-cd's ! First I burned a audio cd, again no finalize and then I data on the rest of the cdrom (like mp3/covers/pics... or other things) !
I'll hope that will do ?

I understand what you are all talking about, but, I have one last question.

With my old burning software there was no "make VCD" command so I made them as followed:

1 Drag & drop the MPEG video (usually more then 1)
2 Drag & drop the Autorun.INI file (to start the disk)
3 Drag & drop the Startmenu.HTM file (to create a menu)
4 Drag & drop .WAV and .GIF files for Startmenu.HTM
5 Drag & drop a .ICO file to make a Icon

What I want to know is any of the steps 2 to 5 listed above needed if using NERO's Make VCD command? Especially if I want one that can be read by both a computer and a stand alone DVD (assuming that it can read VCD's) players. And what excatly does NERO use those files that a listed in the little window for? Do they replace the files that I was manually drag and dropping with my old burning application?

Plus, I usually also burned on to my VCD's an application that allowed the reading of Corel Envoy (a rival to Adobe Acrobat). Can that be added to a VCD made with NERO's VCD make command? Or will that interfear with it possible playing on a stand alone DVD.

Sorry for all the questions, but, since my NERO was downloaded it did (of course) come with little instructions. So I had to ask someone. And you turned out to be the lucky ones.
