  1. I think of getting a Panansonic DVD home record. And I have a Pionner AO4 and might being thinking of a AO6. Can the Pioneer DVD burner's read DVD-ROM. I would like to do editting on the PC. Also with a home record with DVD-RAM does that just record MPEG 2 file's or make VOB file's. IF DVD-RAM record MPEG 2 that what I want. I have also been think of the LG burner. but have heard of a DVD+R play back problem. IF the LG burner is alot better then Pioneer for reading DVD-ROM then I still might get it.

  2. I think the set top players author the DVDs durring recording. I don't know alot about them, but I don't "think" they will record as mpeg2 files.

I have a Panansonic e50 set top recorder and off hand I don't recall seeing anything about Mpeg2 in the manual. Though I will admit I only used it for one disk recording so far and the family has a $500 player

If I don't start using it next week I think it will go back to the store for a refund. I preferre my Pc.

  3. I have a DMRE30, if you record to a DVDR, and finalize it, it will just be readable as a normal DVD (ie Video_ts folder), if you DONT finalizse it, it doesnt seem readable at all by a PC.

If you record to a DVD RAM disc, you dont have to finalize, it record to the disc as .VRO files, although these can be used pretty much in the same way as VOB or MPG files.
