I just bought a maxtor HDD and it came shiped with the jumper set to "CS enabled" so I left it like it was installed it, then tryed to set a partion and format it, but I couldn't get fdisk to run nor could I format the drive it gave me an error of something like "format not allowed." SO I set the jumpers to "DS master 0" and everything worked as it should. I was just wonder what CS enabled is all about?

CS is cable select.
With this setting it looks to where your drive is on the IDE cable to determine if it is a Master or Slave.
Selecting Master or Slave rather than CS is better and is the configuration you have now (master). -
CS=cable select
That would make perfect sence don't know why I couldn't figure that one out.
