  1. Hello there!

I´m a newbie user from Brasil of a Hewlett Packard DVD+R recorder. I purchased the DVD 28 DAYS LATER (awesome movie) and in a sunday evening, i´ve think: why did not backup it? so i look over the web to know how did it. i´ve found Nero and DVD-SHRINK.

By DVD-Shrink i´ve ripped the movie, selected the language that i want and the menus. after this, i converted it and burned with Nero 6.

But, the DVD+R does not work´s like the original one!!!(???)

When i put it in the DVD player, the DVD player recognize it like a DVD but does not plays it. When i put it in my computer i can watch the movie, but i can´t acess the menus!!! The menus appears to be there, but i can´t uses them. I think that i´ve lost the DVD structure when i select the part´s that i want in the DVD-shrink.
How could i do not lost the DVD structure when selecting the part´s that i want in the DVD shrink? how do i recognize the parts responsible to the correct work of the menus???
    thanks in advance...

    sorry for the poor english...

  2. Your dvd player might not support +r media.

    Try it this way:

    DVDShrink
    IMG Tools
Nero to burn the ISO image

This eliminates any issues that NERO may have with the VIDEO_TS/UDF structure.

Also use DAEMON Tools to mount he ISO image as a virtual DVD drive and see if the menus work there. If it doesn't work in Daemon Tools, ti won't work on your settop player either. Saves you a disk in testing.

  4. Try burning it on another program, like Instant copy or Clone DVD. Sometimes Nero cannot be played on standalone DVD players but can be played on PC.

  5. I´ve forgot to tell, but i´ve used the IMG TOOL to burn it.

the question is: does exist´s a manner to understand wich folders and files of the menus dysplaied on the DVD shrink authoring are assential to the propper functioning of the DVD? My question is: to reduce the ammount of data, we use DVD shrink to choose what you want, but, what is the files that i can´t forgot to choose for the DVD works in a DVD player?

  6. After using DVD Shrink you get the DVD files on your hard disk. You should be able to play the movie from there using Power DVD or something similar. Do they play correctly? This will determine whether the fault lies with the DVD Shrink software or with the method of burning and/or the media used to burn the film onto.

  7. I am having the same problem. Backup works fine in the PC and Toshiba stand alone but wont play on a Sony DVP-S500D stand alone. I tried Shrink and nero. I also tried ImgTool and Decrypter, but nothing.

Then I would say that the problem lies in your Sony player. Have you checked on the compatibilty list (on the left under "DVD Players") to see whether that model can actually handle DVD R's? If it isn't that then it MUST be the media you are using. Personally I find Ritek discs to be the most compatible with the majority of players.
