    well, that's your answer:

    Name:0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3

ie. your avi file doesn't have ac3 sound.

If it did, GSpot would report:

    ac3 (0x2000) "Dolby Laboratories, Inc"

Yes under audio it will say ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc for example.
As for my problem i corrected the jittery output by selecting "Do not frame rate conversion" this however made the file bigger than a 4.7G DVD so im going to shrink it with DVD-Shrink to see what the file output is like.

    NeoNapster,

I think you should read the Thread more carefully before posting. The question you've quoted above was directed to Turismo12 to help him with his query, ie. so that he could check, using Gspot, whether his avi has ac3 sound or not.

Moreover, 2 posts later I say that if his avi had AC3 sound then GSpot would report: ac3 (0x2000) "Dolby Laboratories, Inc".

I have a question. My source AVI is widescreen (the black bars are not visible) sized 640x360. It is in 23.976fps. Since it is in widescreen, don't I set the aspect ratio to 16:9 Display instead of 4:3 Display?

I have a 4:3 TV and I need the black bars. Well, I selected the 3:2 Pulldown When Playback and on the computer, the M2V video is upside down....

  14. Ok I used this method verbatim and I liked it alot. Now I have discoverd my movies I created are quite jerky, most noticeable when credits are rolling form bottom 2 top and panning the cam from left 2 right.. Also smearing credits..

The movie I am trying to make better for example is :

    Xvid
    Ntsc
    Fps=23.976
mpeg lyer 1 sound, but sound isn't prob..
    Res 16:9

I'm using tmpgenc to convert and thats where my problem lies.. My setting for tmpgenc are as follows: (with this Movie)

    Stream: mpeg2
    Size: 720 480
    Aspect ratio 4:3
    Frame rate: 23.976 (internaly 29.97)
Rate control mode: constant bitrate (cbr)
Bitrate: the calculated bitrate using bit calc..
    Buffer size:224
    Profiletandard
    Video Format:ntsc
    Encode mode:3:2pulldown when playback
    yuv formattandard
    Dc compression:9 bits
motion search precsion:motion estimate search fast

    Advanced
    Video source type: non interlaced
    Feild order b
    Soure aspect: 1:1 (vga)
    full screen keep aspect ratio..

With all that what can be done to correct this problem..

  19. No need so many software and so many steps, only 1 software and 1 step to got it:

    http://www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm

Use AVI to DVD button and it'll copy AC3 in AVI to AC3 in DVD automatically via its DirectAC3 tech.

  20. newbi here this my first time trying somthing like this but i have one big problem. i did mostly everything the guide said except instead of get a ac3 of an avi i demuxed it and got a wav instead. that i converted it to a ac3 with besweet. when i play the dvd i don't get any sound. what up with that? just wondering if there something wrong with something i did or is it my dvd player?

  21. i converted video to 23fps (but my tmpgenc plus doesn't say (internally 29fps...) ).

anyway, when i try to load in dvd author, i get:

*The video framerate xxxx fps cannot be used for a standard DVD.
You can only use the following framerate for a standard DVD:
    29.97 fps (NTSC format only)
    25 fps (PAL format only)

Other framerates than the above mentioned are out-of-standard for DVD-Video.

We cannot guarantee that nonstandard DVDs will play in a DVD player.
Even if the DVD plays normally in the beginning, problems might arise later in the movie.

When you make a nonstandard DVD, whether it will be playable on your DVD player differs from the various brands of DVD players.
You should check which framerates your DVD player supports before making nonstandard DVD-Videos.

I've run into a slight problem, the .avi file isn't being accepted by tmpgenc.
