Nero Burning Rom 5.5 question

I have downloaded this from the net - bought a serial number and it is not working.
It fails at the part when it is supposed to commence "burning" process. I get a statement that says Burn Process Fail.
Can someone tell me if this is related to the software or some buttons which are checked or not checked with my operating system? I am using Win. 98.
I had no problems using Nero in the past but my computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything.

Also, are there any other great MP3 softwares out there which are FREE and have a volume normalizer?

you just bought a license for ver 5.5? it's been out for years, plus if you already have a ver on your (old) system it should be a free upgrade...unless you are talking about ver 6.
anyway if you can go back to ver 5.5.10xx.
RE your burning issue too many variables are at play here since very little info was provided other than error message. try reinstall nero first. good luck
