  1. I had started to watch the Matrix Reloaded the other day...and noticed that Roy Jones Jr. is in the movie. That was pretty damn funny to me because I was thinking that with Roy Jones in the house....screw Neo and Morpheus and all that other Matrix garbage..just put a boxing ring somewhere and let Roy Jones beat the shit out of one agent after another. AFter all..that guy is only the best pound for pound fighter to ever box on this Planet...shouldn't be too much different in the world of the Matrix..huh?

Nobody else noticed RJJ was in the Matrix? I actually stopped the movie right around that point....haven't finished it yet....but it seems like a pretty good movie to that point.

Speaking of Roy Jones Jr. ...he's actually fighting Tarver this Saturday......he should knock Tarver out by the 5th.

Yeah I noticed but its not that big of role. I actually thought he did a decent job, though he didn't really have to do much. I hope we get to see him do some boxing in Revelations.

No doubt Roy Jones Jr. is pound for pound the best boxer in the world right now. I saw a documentary about all the condidtioning his father put him through when he was a kid. Now that is some scary stuff. He had to fight guys older and twice his size and he often had to do it with one hand tied behind his back. His dad wanted him to lose more than he won so that he could build up his chin. The stuff he went through bordered on child abuse, but you can't argue with the results.

Nope, he died in Reloaded . He was in the Enter The Matrix game, had the funniest cutscene ever, in the history of gaming.

Defense, don't read this until you've watched the movie.

Wasn't he on the same ship as the Smith Clone? If so then I guess you are just assuming roy dies since the Smith Clone was supposedly the only survivor of that battle. If not, is there something you know that I don't? Just watching the movie it never said whether he died or not, he was just involved in a battle that was never shown.

Or is it shown in Enter the Matrix? I've never played it.

  5. @ adam, yea...I've seen some bio's on RJJ as well. He is an amazing speciman....don't know how else to refer to the guy. His conditioning goes way beyond that of any sport...including soccer and basketball. What has always amazed me about Jones is his strength. His strength is greater then most heavyweights..that's just unheard of. That combined with his speed, stamina, quickness.....it's a lethal combination.

That's why he's undefeated and will stay that way for a LONG..LONG time. I know he lost that one fight because he almost took that guys head off while he was on his knees. That was just stupid street shit...can't do that in an organized fight...he knew better then that...but as far as i'm concerned..that still doesn't taint his record. He was stupid..made a mistake...paid the consequences....but that's long behind him.

As far as this fight on Saturday..you gotta love how they hype up fights....this guy Tarver is gonna be "CARVER" as "CARVED" and "CUT" up like a Thanksgiving Turkey.......it'll be a straight up K.O by the 5th..no later.

What's your prediction for Saturday's fight?

I used to be the biggest boxing fan in the world, but I've been without cable for so long that I really haven't kept up at all. I'm not able to follow it at all anymore, though I still appreciate the sport. So, since I'm really not that familiar with Tarver, I couldn't give much of a prediction except to say that I don't think many people would last very long against Roy Jones Junior.

  7. @ adam, thanks for the "WARNING FOR SPOILER" post...that was cool. I haven't gone to the movies nearly as much as I used to...and it's been disappointing to see that a week after the Matrix Reloaded is released for rent/sale on VHS/DVD...commercials for Revolutions are already flying around left and right.

I was really pissed to catch a glimpse of a commercial of revolutions and see that damn agent is still alive. Man...I thought for sure in the first Matrix there was NO WAY in hell that guy could've come back. I mean Neo put an ass whippin' on him like i've NEVER SEEN. I don't get pumped up during too many movies..but I gotta admit..the first Matrix..and more specifically..that last fight scene with Neo and that bad ass agent...that was SERIOUS! I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings in reloaded..i'm late on it....shoulda saw it long ago....anyway..thanks for the heads up on the "spoiler."

On another note..any particular reason you don't have cable? I have basic...no reason for anything more for me...as I don't watch movies on the movie channels. As for the fights......there are a few options down here....a few local sports bars have the fight....as does Flagler Race Track....and the best option is an Indian Reservation off of 441......at the Indian Reservation you can play a little blackjack or craps....while getting ready for the fight. Not sure where i'm going for this one....but i'll catch it at one of those places. Digital cable really put a damper on some things....I have a couple of worthless analog boxes..of course....i'm just referring to "DIGITAL" cable VS. Analog. ...But that really does stink...used to be easier to watch...I mean..order the fights from home.

And yea...you're right about Jones....I can't think of anyone who could have a legitimate shot of beating him.....other then Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson.....I do think RJJ is seriously nuts to think about fighting either of those two guys....but we'll see. I'd love to see either of those fights though....I'd bet you'd catch those fights if they ever happened..right?

I knew he looked familiar, but I couldn't place the face. I didn't even realize that he was in the movie, until I read this post.

Matrix Reloaded DVD Released: October 14
Matrix Revolutions Theatrical Release: November 5
24 days - 1 week (7 days) = 17 days. Thats too much time for promotion

  11. @ Tompika ...yep..I see you caught it. I didn't read any of the Matrix posts..because I figured someone would post some type of spoiler..and not go the route adam did to mention not to read a specific part of a post due to spoiling the movie. I'm gonna watch the rest of the movie tonight. Looks like a good one...i'm not sure how it could be better then the first Matrix...but I'll see tonight.

What's your prediction for the fight Saturday?

  16. i've just responded to this post twice..and it hasn't been bumped..and still shows tompika as the last poster. I responded to one other post on another forum and it bumped....so it must be something with the OFF TOPIC forum.

"If Tarver brings out that other guy, you know --- RJ --- Roy's gonna destroy him, bottom line," confided Gabe Brown, longtime sparring partner and SquareRing teammate. "With Jones, if you're a nice guy, he will beat you like a nice guy. Like with Reggie [Johnson]...he was a nice guy, and Jones didn't punish him. Bringing RJ to the surface is a big mistake...people may look at Roy in a different light after this fight." "

  18. ...humm..yea..definitely some oddities on the forum tonight.

Good points on Jones....but I think either way...Jones would end up destroying Tarver. He is always more prepared then the other fighter...both mentally and physically. I read an article last week on espn.com that said RJJ is more furious then he's ever been..not because of Tarver..but because he's had to diet in a more grueling manner..then he ever has before. He's dropped so much weight so quickly..to come down to Tarver......that he said...he has just snapped on people left and right..for no apparent reason..which is something he has never done before. Well..in about Two days...he's gonna seriously snap on one other person....hopefully for Tarver...something in his body won't snap..other then his jaw.....because that's a given.

Here's the link to the article: http://espn.go.com/boxing/news/2003/1029/1649865.html
