  1. I am trying to convert a .avi file to .mpg, so I can put it on a DVD. WhenI use TMPGENC to do this, the .mpeg file comes out with little chops in it, it snags, and its annoying. I am assuming that this is the programs fault, since the original file didn't do this.

Are there any programs out there, that will change the video format, that 1) actually work, and 2) are free.

    Thanks.

I converted mine using DVD NTSC template of TMPGenc. I didn't notice
any "chops" in the video. My avi file is from DV camcorder.

Did you play your avi file? May be the source is not as good.
