I am looking to buy a new dvd player, but I want to make sure it plays both DVD-r and DVD+r discs. I can find lots of information of dvd players that play dvd-r, but virtually nothing about dvd+r playback. Is this because all new dvd players already have the capability to play dvd+r, or what? I am confused...please help!!

  2. For some strange reason there is never any label on the player's box or tech sheet about DVD+R. But really these labels mean nothing anyway because there are lots of older players that play both discs fine. Just about all players now support both formats. If you want a recommedation for DVD-R/+R, I would go for the Panasonic 35S. Excellent compatibility for the money ($79 @ TARGET)

    Wut up Rkelly!

I did a quest for a home dvd player replacement,, since my old Toshiba only played dvd+r and did play dvd-r',, but freezes by the end on my movies.

So anyways I picked up a yamaha DV-s5650. It is progressive and let me tell you that it is region free and converts to both PAL and NTSC.

It can be had @ your local bestbuy for 149.00

No cromo bugs and movies look beautiful on it!! And I watch my movies off a 120" screen

Freezing at the end of the movie is cheap media, not the player.

Might be true. But I use that same dvd-r media in my Yamaha dvd player and it plays it w/ no problem.
