    I'm wanting to download a film and then convert onto dvd which format is best to start with i have been told divx ???? is this true

    Your question shows that you have done no back reading on the subject. Read some of the guides here and they will help.

    For dvd you need to convert to mpeg2, divx is a form of compression (avi).
    If it's wet, drink it

    Ditto hardcoreruss. If your question is "what format of film to download is best to make a dvd then the aswer is a dvd format film. If your question is what format to convert it to AFTER you download it then the answer is dvd format(mpeg2), which is the ONLY format if u wanna make a dvd.
