i have tmpgenc and it ran past the 30 day trial so i cant encode to dvd.. then i tried ulead video studio 7 and to encode an avi and mpeg to dvds but when i was done encode a mpeg video using the video studio 7 it made the audio out of sync and the audio would cut in and out..the mpeg file i encode with video studio was mpeg video and mpeg audio with layer II.. can you tell what went wrong here.. so i may continue using VIDeo studio 7?
so now i am using tmpgenc to encode my avi's to mpeg1 because i dont want to upgrade to tmpgenc plus.. i set tmpgenc with my avi's to size 720 * 480 , frame rate 29.97fps, rate control mode CBR, motion search precision higest quality(slow), interlace, 44100 layer II audio. aspect ratio 4.3 525 ntsc. then when this is done i will burn it using movie factory 7 se , i assuming movie facotry will encode it to dvd compliant
can you tell me if this will burn correctly and if im on the right track and what am i doing wrong and what to do?
thanks

VirtualDubMod makes MPEG2 files, but I don't see why there should be a problem with Ulead VideoStudio 7. Are all of your files ending up out of sync this way? Have you tried saving using different bitrates and using LPCM instead of MPEG audio or vice versa? I use LPCM at bitrates 4000 and 6000 with no problems. If this is really not working you can try splitting your video into seperate audio and video tracks (TMPGEnc's "MPEG Tools" do this great on MPEGs and maybe also on AVIs) and use VideoStudio to put them together as one MPEG2 file.

whats lpcm?
if and when i have to split my video and audio do i make the audio a .wav file virtualdub than put them together in video Studio 7 or do i make the audio some other file?

LPCM is an audio option when you select Share->Create Video->Custom. You also get to change bitrate. VideoStudio should accept MPEG1Layer2, WAV, AC3 and a lot of other audio formats as valid input. It may even take MP3.
But you may be able to change your video file to MPEG2 without sync problems if you just pick the right options in Share->Create Video->Custom.
