hope someone can help!
I noticed that when i rip a DVD & burn it (to DVD-R), the audio volume is low compared to the original, about half the volume of the original.
In fact, when i was ripping to DVDs to SVCDs, the same thing would happen. i put it down to the conversion process but i could correct it using TMPGEnc re-conversion filters.
Back to DVD-R's. I use DVD Shrink & or DVD Clone to do the ripping/burning & these do not have plugings to adjust the audio volume. i noticed the problem is with all types of rips i do, i.e. a full movie or movie only rip.
I have searched the forums & have seen a some users have similar problems but i am still unclear!
Thanks in advance from downunder!

Most of the "one click" transcoder proggies (DVD2one/DVD Shrink) dont touch the audio, so it is as the original.
It's most likely that you are playing 6ch sound on a 2 ch setup ..... this makes the volume level lower. -
thanks for the reply. i do use 2 channel, but, there again i also used 2 channel sound playing the original, yet they are definately louder than the copy?
I might try different media! -
Hi.
brokenback, this is a problem that has been experienced by many (me included) and with most if not all backup softwares.
Only theories as to why this happens have been put forward. -

Greetings,
So, to paliate this problem, must I chose another sound setting when I play the DVD to have a normal sound level or there is nothing to do to compensate it? it is because, usually, when I dvd shrink, I just keep the 6CH and get rid of the rest. Should I keep the 2CH and get rid of the 6CH?
Thank you -
thanks for the info folks.
If the original has 2 ch & 6ch I usually backup both audio streams. -
Here's some more input to this old peril of low audio volume on ripped DVDs.
I ripped & burn't a DVD (DVD5) using DVD Decrytpter (ISO, mode), no problems, the audio level was perfect, same as original.
I ripped it thru DVD shrink...low volume?
Go figure!
My suggestions. Rip any/All DVD5s with DVD Dectypter and burn with DVD Decrypter (ISO) mode.Arsetralia
