Hello. I have lots of random files of many many different formats. I want to convert them to the most basic video format(mpeg?), and i'm not sure what the best program to do this would be. Like i said they are all different formats, and i want to know if there are any programs that support lots of different formats. Thanks

I have that. There are a few files i have that it says aren't supported. I know they're some sort of DivX files. I still want to convert them but dont know how.

That is when you use Virtual Dub mod. Also, you may need a copy of GSpot. Use Virtual Dub to frameserve your DivX files to TMPGEnc. GSpot is for when you get a file that your computer does not have the codec. GSpot will tell you which codec you need.

where is the best place to get codecs. I just want the codecs not the players and stuff that installs all of the adware if possible.

or use programs like ulead or vegas or premiere pro and just drop all your stuff on the time line and render it out as however you want - they dont care what the input files are ...
