Cant play DVD+RW need help

I have a MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8175 on my IBM laptop. I am able to play DVD+R's but my DVD ROM cannot read DVD+RW's. Is there any way that I can make my DVD ROM play DVD+RW's?

dvd-roms can read dvd-r/+r media, but they cannot read -/+ rw media. it is exactly like how a cd-rom works. they can read cd-r discs, but cannot read cd-rw discs.

however, out of the majority, some (new) drives (dvd-rom or cd-rom) may support reading rw discs nowaday. you will have to check with your manual that came with your dvd-rom to see if if supports reading rw discs. i doubt that it does.

and therefore, you cannot get your rw discs read in your dvd-rom. there is no way (or at least not that i've heard of) to make the RWs readable on a dvd-rom or cd-rom when the drive doesn't support it.

oh, really...since when????? never had problem reading a cdrw with a cd-rom that was made after 1999. you may have problems reading a cdrw if you have one of the old quad-speed cd-roms, though. and yes dvd-rom can and do read dvdrws. where are you getting your info, man hopefully not from experience if so you have some serious hardware issues

your drive seem to have difficulties reading dvdrws. are you playing back dvdrs that you created? does your dvd-rom play dvd-r? if you burn your own blanks and you have a Ricoh-type burner you might look into bitsetting them to dvd-rom. if bitsetting is new to you read about it in this forum. good luck.
