I have 2 single layer DVD 5 movies that I wanna try to copy. Both are MGM movies, Hackers & Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. I have used DVD Decrypter & DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5 to rip. As per the guides on this site. & I have used Nero 6, DVD Architect 1.0, & DVD Decrypter to burn what i ripped. The DVD's were single layer & did not exceed 4.38 GB. They burned fine without any errors. But the problem starts when I put the DVD into my standalone player, Apex AD-500W, the DVD will begin to read & then make noises like a printer. I then tried it in my PC's DVD-ROM drive & my standalone Classic DVD102, it works without problems. I have also backed up other DVD's (DVD9 to DVD+R) & have had no problems at all. Can someone please, help shed some light on the situation as to why I can't back up these DVD's. Thanks in advance.

  3. The Aopen2412 is a Ricoh clone that is capable of bitsetting.
    Which booktype were you using?

BTW I don't understand why you use so many programs for backing up single layer DVDs.
All you need is DVD Decrypter:
    1. ISO read
    2. ISO write

tompika: I am using DVD-ROM book type in Nero & i tried so much other software just to make sure it wasn't a software issue.

    noki:
I then tried it in my PC's DVD-ROM drive & my standalone Classic DVD102, it works without problems.
Seems to work fine in these.

Do either of you think it may be possibly a media issue or do u think it is simply just my Apex player. I just backed up the movie Three to Tango, (not an MGM title), plays fine in the apex player, with the exception of the theatrical trailer not working when i choose it. & Again this is with the apex player only.

    i think this is it
    they are Philips DVD+RW's
    DVDRW/013
    9307 002 60013

I have used this media & burned other DVD's (DVD-9 to DVDR) & they work fine. It just seems like it's these MGM DVD's.

Try buying a couple nice DVD+R's. If you're just nipping out to the store I recommend Fuji or Imation.

If burning ISOs works then use it.

When you finished shrinking the VIDEO_TS use IMGTool Classic to make an ISO and burn it with DVD Decrypter
