  1. Hello everyone
I have a DVD that I converted so easily using TMPGEnc, the file is about 3.5GB MPEG-2 format.

How can I convert from MPEG-2 to MPEG-1?

I hope it can enable me to change the file size from 3.5GB to at least 1450MB.

The file can be adjusted by changing the bit rate. What do you want to do with a smaller file? I mean, you give up quality going from MPEG-2 to MPEG-1.
    Hello.

  3. I need to put them in two or three CDs, I am willing to run them on a VCD player, not on computer.

Try looking in the Convert section at left. There are som many guides to do what you want, I am sure you can find something to put your movie on maybe even one VCD.
    Hello.

  5. Other than the loss of non-supported interlacing, which is not present in progressive video, and of course the obvious disadvantage of re-encoding, there is no inherent quality difference between MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. There is also no good reason to make such a conversion.

You are probably thinking VCD and MPEG-1 are the same thing, which they emphatically are not.

What you really need to do is re-create the original conversion using a lower bitrate, probably in conjunction with a re-size to a lower resolution to avoid bitrate starvation. MPEG type is much less relevant than these other factors to filesize and quality.

  6. Can you give me a URL where I can read about that?
