Hello, how's it going everybody. I'm doing this wedding and before whenever a client needs a DVD, I only buy those DVD media you see in the store and most of the time they work. But there were couple of clients that had compatibility issues.
My friend told me about the two kinds of DVD-R media, 1) DVD-R(G) general purpose and 2) DVD-R(A) authoring. He told to use the DVD-R(A) because it is more compatible.. So my question is, is it worth it? I know DVD-R(A) is more expensive than the DVD-R(G), but is that 100% compatible with DVD players out there?
And will it matter with your burner, I have a PIONEER A05, want to make sure that this media will work on my burner..
thanks a lot for your help
take care
nim

Unless you work in the industry you are hardly likely to ever see DVD-RA the disks themselves are about $30AUD each and the the burners like the Pioneer S201 are about $10 grand and burn at 1x speed. They are more compatable aroung 98-99%. I do lots of DVD's using Verbatim general media and over the last 6 to 12 mths have never had a burn failure and thats authoring and burning over 100 per week.So I think your mate gave you a bum steer.

If your clients have say a sneaky pete dvd player they bought at the flea market then it just may be that your dvd's are good and their dvd player stinks. It pretty much boils down to compatability of the dvd player, provided you're doing everything correct on your side.
Ask them before hand what their dvd player name and MODEL is and then burn the appropiate disc after checking here in the players forum.
You may even have a client with that sneaky pete dvd player and it wont play anything except a standard pressed (read factory made)dvd. -
to use a dvd A type disk - as mentioned - requires a pioneer S201 , i'll sell you mine because i hardly use it anymore .. it also requires a scsi card to run it ...
the burners are $3500 now i think and the disks are now 3-5-10$ ussually , though ive seen them for a lot more ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
