i installed everything in the installer engine, is this all i need to turn my video_ts folder into a divx file or do i need the divx codec too. Also when I hit encode the program simply seems to work really fast for a sec, dings, and then nothing. please help, im running panter.

autocrop does not seem to work for me in panther either, the fields remain blank

  3. ffmpegX 0.0.9a works on Panther. If you have issues, they're not linked to the OSX version. Please post details on the input file, preset used and process output (available from the blue "info" icon next to the progress bar).

    ..
Encoding started on Sun Nov 2 10:47:50 PST 2003

thanks for your help, im sure its just something im overlooking on my part.

  5. There is no output past "Encoding started on.." ?
Do you get a different result by setting the Save as.. location on your desktop?

no, no output past "encoding started on". the program simply dings, and the progress window says the file is finished, but there is no file present. this all happens in the span of 1 second. I tried setting the save as to the desktop and got the exact same results.

maybe i installed it wrong. after ffmpegx installed i moved the application into the applications folder, and there now seems to also be a copy of the application in the home directory. where does the program belong? does it matter?

ok i have a new problem. I did a reinstall and now the program seems to be working, however, when I follow the video_ts to divx tutorial, and it says to hit the preview button nothing happens. Now when the file is completed it wont play in mplayer. mplayer crashes when I try to open it. what other player could i try?

  9. It must be mplayer. To check if you've installed it correctly, try the following command in Terminal and see what happens.

    /usr/bin/mplayer <drag and drop here a movie file>

this is what i get... all i did to install mplayer was drag it into the apps directory

    Andreas-Ohanessians-Computer:~ andreasohanessian$ /usr/bin/mplayer/Users/andreasohanessian/Movies/guffman.avi

    -bash: /usr/bin/mplayer/Users/andreasohanessian/Movies/guffman.avi: Not a directory
    Andreas-Ohanessians-Computer:~ andreasohanessian$

  11. You need a space after /usr/bin/mplayer

ok i tried that and mplayer crashed like it does when I try to play it directly. Thi is the message I get in terminal. Do you think this is because i did not install the panther binaries for mplayer? how do I do that? The mplayer site isnt much help. thanks

I tried to load the file with VLC player and it actually plays but the screen is all grey and zoomed up. It plays for a while and then gives me this error...

ffmpeg: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping (to slow computer ?)
ffmpeg: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping (to slow computer ?)

  14. The screen size you choose of 1312x880 is too big. This could also be the source of the crash. Your source was in DVD size, with a width of 720 pixels. As a consequence, it does not make any sense to encode it to a width larger to 720.

mplayer plays it now, but even a new file set to be under 720x480 is all zoomed up in mplayer and VLC. this is the info I get interminal
