  1. I’ve been backing up my Doctor Who DVDs of the “Key to Time” series, and have been having some troubles. I can successfully back-up the movie only (i.e. all four episodes as one Title sequence) with Instant Copy 8 or DVD2One, but I cannot retain the menus. These DVDs seem to have a weird structure where the menus and some of the extras are both in VTS_01_0 Indeed CloneDVD (running with AnyDVD) cannot even open up the disc, and an unencrypted image of the entire disc made with DVD Decrypter does not play successfully either (it cannot make the connection from the first play materials, FBI opening etc to the Menu). Anyone have any experience with these DVDs?

Interesting enough, a more recent Doctor Who DVD “Talons of Weng-Chiang” does not exhibit any of these problems. (As I understand it the “Key to Time” DVDs were the first Doctor Who DVDs released).

Wow, I used to watch Doctor Who all the time when I was a kid. There may be some errors on the disk. Try a scandisk in Nero cd-tools. Try the latest version of DVDdecryptoer.

Where did you find those Doctor Who dvds?
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  3. They're available in big video retail stores, or I think on line from the marketing arm of the BBC.

To update my issue: DVDShrink (the latest Beta) did the job where none of the others would, so I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise for this freeware program.
