  1. alright, i have an mpg i can't burn as an svcd because it's not svcd compliant.

    but when i check the mpg's stats with avicodec, it shows: "Video : 0.0 b, 2520 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 480*480 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported"

i tried de-multiplexing then multiplexing the file with tmpgenc, but nero still says i can't burn it as an svcd.

nero says to re-encode the svcd using its software, but i don't have the plug-in/add-on.

is there a program that's free (or at least it offers a free trial) where i can re-encode the mpeg so nero can burn it as an svcd?

What did Nero post as the reason why your svcd was non-compliant?

When you try to burn a (s)vcd with nero and it's non-compliant, Nero will pop up a window showing what's the compliant standard for (s)vcd and then it would tell you why your (s)vcd is non-compliant.

Also, which version of Nero are you using?

  3. nero said that the stream wasn't compliant, which is why the file needs to be re-encoded.

    i am using nero 6.

As I stated before, when you try to burn a noncompliant svcd, Nero will pop-up two windows. The first window will remind you what are the requirements of a standard SVCD. It will remind you what's the proper bit rate, aspect ratio, and audio. And then Nero will tell you what's wrong with your SVCD, if its the wrong resolution, bit rate, audio, etc.

The second pop-up window will ask if you want Nero to re-encode your movie.

To find out which version of Nero your have, go to Nero's menu bar and choose Help->About Nero. You should get a pop-up window showing if you have Nero 6.0.19, 6.0.15, etc.

The more precise you are with your answers, the easier it is for others to pin-point your problem.

  5. nero 6 = nero 6. nothing more, nothing less.

it's only window, and nero says the svcd specifications: 480x480 resolution
at 29.97 Hz or 480x576 at 25 Hz. the audio must be 44.1 Khz, stereo/multi-channel/dual-channel. it can't burn it because the "stream encoding is Super VCD."

Hmm, I'm assuming you bought Nero 6 right when it came out. If that's the case, go to Nero and down load the latest updates, which should be 6.0.0.19(and its free). Previous version up to 6.0.0.15 had SVCD burning issues; nero would state the svcd was either to big or compliance issues.

    Give this a try.

What you're doing is not just burning, but also authoring. It's the authoring stage that complains. I suggest you use VCDEasy to author, then, if VCDEasy refuses to burn the SVCD to CD, use Nero to burn the SVCD image that VCDEasy creates.
