  1. Feature request! To output AC3 audio! This will make 100% compliant files! (Even if you have a button to enable an external encoder (in case there is licensing issues and you can't distribute it)

    It'd be appreciated!

    Already does this.

SoftEncode can be used to produce 100% puka AC3. ffmpeg also can be used to produce AC3 - however this seems to be incompatable with certain players especially Pioneers.

  3. Don't want to bug you hrer, but I've been searching the readme and the faq on your website and all that.

How do I configure it to encode AC3?

Well I'm guessing here that you are using SVCD2DVDMPG not SVCD2DVD. It is the latter which offers the AC3 stuff i mentioned:

  5. I am indeed using SVCD2DVD. Registered about a month ago.

where it says "AC3" all it said was "AC-" and was all greyed out, which is why i did not notice it when I was looking for it. Weird I dont see the 3 in AC3, but now all is well. Thanks.

I set FFmpeg to be my ac3 encoder.
Would you recommend softencode or ffmpeg for best compatibility?
Quality is less of a concern than compatibility for what I am doing. (TV episodes) for dvd rips I use DVD-Video and or Divx.

Sounds like your using large fonts or 120 dpi within windows.....

Anyway AC3 compatability is 100% with SoftEncode, some players have issues with dvds which contain ffmpeg encoded AC3. Namely Pioneers. ffmpeg is orders of magnitude faster than SoftEncode & is free. I would try ffmpeg - if it meets your needs i would stick with it.

it is greyed out as you must browse to the exe of either softencode or ffmpeg. You can get ffmpeg from the option in the configuration menu.

  7. great, thanks for the fast support.

methinks i will hunt down Softencode, I dont care much about time, my machine is fast (Dual processor Athlon mp 2600+) and I can let it process overnight.

Sonic Foundry SoftEncode is not perfect either. There was a reason it was discontinued.
