  1. Hello All,

    When attempting to archive one of my DVD with ShrinkDVD 2.3 as well as 3.0 I get the following error:

    DVD Shrink encountered an error & cannot continue.
    CDvdCSS::Read Fail!
    The reason is: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

    for what it worth I am running WinXP SP1 on a P4 2.20Ghz, 512 DDR Ram, 120GB HD (free), TDK 440n Burner & AnyDVD ver2.0.0.4.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I once burned a CD-RW with some MP3 files and when I wanted to copy the files to another computer I was getting the same error message as you're getting. I used Nero CD Speed and DVDInfoPro to scan the CD and, there were lots of errors on it. I bet if you scan the media that you're trying to backup, you'll find errors on it.

    Good idea. If it does not work, then try playing the main movie while trying to rip it.

    if you have 2 DVD units try ripping the disc with the other device to the HDD. different brand DVD units might have different abilities in reading discs. had a problem reading a dvd with my NEC 1300a (could not rip 2 of 7 vobs with both Decrypter and Smartripper), yet my Lite-On rom had no problem. good luck.

  5. I kept getting an error message during the initial analysis (forgot what it was) when trying to rip a commercial DVD's with DVDShrink 2.3 last week. When I made the 5th attempt with DVDShrink 1.03 it worked.

    I got that exact message for the first time just yesterday. Not using DVDShrink. I was just copying over a DVDR from disc to harddrive.

    What did it turn out to be? One big smudgy fingerprint on the DVD! :cD

    Wiped it once with a disc cleaning cloth. Popped back in. Copied over no problems. :c)

    Hope your solution is as easy as that. :c)
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
