  2. Need a lot more details. What kind of AVI's DV, Huffy, DiVX??? What are you converting them to? DVD, VCD, general MPEG for your computer?

You could try TMPEGEnc, but typically Main Concept will slog through about anything. My guess is you are converting some DiVX files. If so you'll probably need do do some repair work on the file.

  3. The avi's are xvid & divx. I have tryed converting to mpeg2, svcd & dvd but all have the same problem of freezing. The avi's are fine they play perfect. I want to convert them so's i can burn then to dvd's using TMPGEnc DVD Author.

I have TMPGEnc but its alot slower than MainConcept.

  4. I get the same problem when usinng Main Concept to convert Xvid/Divx files. It stops encoding about 80% into the file, the way I get round it is to use Virtual Dub to convert the Xvid/Divx file to Huffy and then use Main Concept. Also I am unable to frame serve to Main Concept but can to TMPEGenc, any ideas?

  5. Should be able to frameseve to Main Concept just fine. Just use find all files when opening the file and then load the VDR.

There are several good repair tools under the tools section. I've used DivFix before and it works well. You'll probably find there are a lot of DiVX files that play ok, but don't encode well until fixed. Actually, ASF files are even worse. Actually, I found that the audio is the problem in most cases. I almost always just extract the wave file using VirtualDub then convert with 2lame or HeadAChe. Then use your encoder to just do the video and re-mux later. Poke around you'll find several good guides on how to do all of the above.
