I was reading something and it was talking about using a tv monitor to see the actual output/colors, etc while editing since the computer monitors don't really duplicate the tv interlaced format. I'd like to know how any of you using a tv monitor with your video editing setup have it set up. What tv monitor are you using (brand, size, etc) and how/where do you hook it into your system, how/when you use it to check etc.

I use a Matrox RTX-10 DV editing card (along with Premiere 6.5) which provides real-time previews. I use a 14" monitor for such previews (actually an 18 yr old computer monitor that also had NTSC input--don't recommend you get one of these). Actually any monitor TV with a composite or s-video input will work. I also run an s-video directly to a 50" Pioneer projection TV that I can also preview how it appears on the "big screen". The main requirement, however, is an editing card that provides real-time previews. Hope this helps.

Funny, the monitor I use is also an 18 year old 14 inch computer monitor NTSC composite inputs. Comadore' to be exact. Several times over I've used other cheap TVs as such and ended up just giving them away. They were way to contrasty and made color corrections painful at best. Maybe my eyes are just tuned to the old monitor, but I really do think it's much more accurate.

I have a Canopus breakout box I connect it to. Works....
