  1. Hi All,

Was just backing up a few of my DVDs when I realised that I forgot to authenticate BladeRunner Directors Cut in Apple DVD Player prior to using DVDBackup 1.3, however DVD Backup proceeded as per normal, ripped the DVD and decrypted with a key.

Although the DVD was a single layer & did not require DVD2ONEX, I ran it through it anyway as DTOX will not accept encrypted data, and it went through.

I tried it with a couple of other DVDs & the same happened - even with a different region DVD that DVD Player wanted a region change for.

I am running a G4 450 AGP with Panther, but could not replicate this on my 1GHz TiBook, also with Panther. This is a bummer as its the TiBook that I'd like to be able to do this with as I travel a lot & it would mean I would be able to rip discs from different regions. The G4's DVD-ROM has been flashed to RPC-1, the Powerbook has been updated to 2x, but no RPC-1 firmware.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Are you sure that at some point before backing up using DVDBackup in Pather on the desktop computer that you hadn't already played the disc? I think that the new DVD Player app in Panther not only remembers where you left off in a movie, but also remembers that disc's CSS key.

Very Unlikely, as the machine had never played a DVD prior to me getting it! When I first got it (redundant machine from Dad's work) it prompted me to set the region on the drive when I first put a DVD in!

Also I went on to format the HD & clean install Jag, then Panther, plus I chose a DVD that I hadn't watched in AGES.

I'll look forward to independent verification on that, because that doesn't work in this corner of the planet.
