  1. Hi @ all,

Iīve a little problem and hope somebody could help me out.

I have a Tevion 200 DVD Player and a Philips DVD R70 DVD Recorder.

Yesterday I did the codefree instructions on my Tevion and it seemed ok.
After it, I tried to copy several bought DVD movies and with some it worked (Lord of the Ring 1+2, Schuh des Manitu *german movie*) and with some other (Gladiator, Road to perdition) it didnīt worked.
My Recorder showed me in these cases always "copy prot" in the display.

Is there any possibility to change something that I could copy ALL DVDīs?

    Looking forward to your answers.

    Thanx in advance.

You can only backup movies on standalone dvd recorders that are not copy protected. The movies you copied successfully aren't copy protected otherwise you wouldn't be able to copy them (the whole point of copy protection). another point, you do not mention where you purchase the dvds, there are many copied dvds (pirates) around being sold that look like the original (including dual layer discs) but do not have any protection, so beware of what you buy.

I once bought 2fast2furious (PAL) on DVD from a market place, the DVD looked original and the disc was also dual layer (gold surface at the back) but from playing the movie, you could tell if was a screener. checked the disc info on my pc (DVD Decypter) it had no region protection,m no CSS. i was p*ssed off. tried to return the dvd later but couldn't find the person who sold the dvd.

im assuming the disks you copied were single layer discs without protection. Unfortunately, there isn't a method of backing up commercial copy protected dvds on standalone dvd recorders (im not aware of one). you will need a pc to acheive this.

  3. If you pass the signal through a Dazzle Hollywood DV bridge it works fine, but i guess you wouldn't want to go out and buy one for that purpose alone. I've used my DV bridge a lot for vhs to pc capturing and it's great....the removal of the encryption in the video signal when passing the video signal from a dvd player is just a bonus i guess.

  7. i think you can copy encrypted dvds on standalone dvd recorders. look elsewhere on this site. there are 2 devices...one is red in color (and whose name is RED .....) and cost $79 i believe. the other is more expensive. the info was posted last week.

  9. People have used the Video Filter to eliminate copy protection with success.

  11. I've tried a ton of these filters with my Philips DVDR985 and nothing disabled the copy protection message until I picked up this new sima unit - the SCC2 http://www.videoguys.com/sima.htm. It was a bit more money but it also has multiple I/Os to connect more than one device and has some enhancement controls
