    I'm trying to figure out a way to burn a DVD+R from a Retail dvd and obviously there is not enough room on the DVD+R to do this. I tried to burn just the VOB file and the IFO file but the DVD player does not play the movie file. I think that the IFO file is what starts the player playing. I just want to find what all of the files mean and what needs to be on the dvd to make it play... ANY GOOD GUIDES WOULD BE GREAT!

    one guide on the structure of a DVD is on DVD Demystified. See section 4.10 which will ref you to other sections.

    Also, see DVD Shrink in the tools section.
