I started with a 700mb vidio. I went to convert it to a mpeg-2 so i can make a svcd using nero but now the file is 1.27gb. its to large to burn it into a svcd. why did the file get so large. PLEASE HELP. Im new at this.

what kind of video is the source? If it's a DivX, the higher file size is normal. The file size depends always on the bitrate.(higher bitrate ->higher quality -> higher file size)
There are several tools available, that split the .mpg, so you can burn it as 2 CD.
