  1. I loaded an avi file Tmpgenc. It accepted it as a video source but not audio so I extracted a wav file using virtualdub which it accepted.

However, when I start encoding, tmpgenc crashes before it does anything and goes into 'not responding mode'

I ran the avi through avi codec and got:-

    File : 700 MB (700 MB), duration: 0:53:28, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 73 %

    Video : 529 MB, 1384 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 640*272 (2.21:1), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported

    Audio : 171 MB, 448 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 5 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, Supported

I made sure I had the codecs which avicodec linked me to (xvid from digital digest for video and ac3 filter from sourcforge for audio)

The avi is FINE when played on media player.

Help would be great, ive had a good look through the guides with no joy.

    Thanks in advance
