Anyone have any experience using myHTPC's media frontend interface, useful for TV display and control of media functions? from the limited info and the screenshots on their site (myHTPC.net) this looks like it could be a good program to use. It appears to be highly configurable, large and easy to read screen displays, and has the ability to list songs and videos by play-lists or locations, and looks like it can be configured to open a song or video with a program different than the associated type. It also looks like it can be configured with a TV listing/viewing guide, and even a weather information screen among other things.

I currently have been looking for a simple solution to control my PC's video/audio playback from my TV screen, in an easy-to-view and easy-to-use format, and this looks like it could be the one.

  2. Yes,

err... well no, not yet. Although I plan to use it in the future. When I get my basement home theater fully set up. I plan to use this with http://www.fukushima.us/UIRT2/ and http://www.girder.nl/ so that I can control everything from a remote and the computer will be hidden back in the component room.

I am rounding up the parts to make a UIRT2 right now.

The Girder looks like it could be useful. I have an ATI-AIW-7500 with the wireless remote that I use so I already have remote control for many functions on my display, maybe I can use that with the Girder? I began last night by installing the my HTPC and beginning some customizing. i still want to integrate a decent TV listing into it (XML based data), integrate the ATI TV controls, including recording, and experiment to find the best - and easiest to integrate - audio and video players.

I was thinking of programming my own interface from scratch, maybe using VB, but it does appear the myHTPC does most of what I want and allows me to add on for the thinsg it doesnt do. Any opinions on myHTPC, any other interface, and/or programming options are welcome.

  4. Well the ATI AIW 7500 come with the EZ look which does the same functionality, albeit a little buggy. Maybe I will try the myhttp one.
