  8. I read on another site that Humax are releasing a combined freeview and HDD recorder for £200 ( early nov?)-- 60gb I think. But these prices are more in my region I think (sub £250).
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  9. Seems Sainsburys are determined to shift these recorders!

TV adverts and a full page colour ad in today's Daily Mail.

The original planned price in the Christmas brochure (printed in Sept) was £249

They now have competition with the Grundig in Currys/Dixons at the same price.

    KDH,
Do you have any more info on the Grundig you say is on sale in Currys and Dixons ?
I didn't know Grundig had a DVD recorder out and I can't see it on either stores website.

I bought that same mag to help me decide which recorder to go for.
The reason it scored 2/5 was that they were comparing it against the other recorders in the review and, in their opinion, the other machines offered better functionality although they did praise it's recording quality.
I went for a Philips DVDR75 in the end at £219 (multiregion) from Richer Sounds and I have to say it was a great buy.
The recording quality is better than I had expected as reviews I've read favoured the Panasonics but I think the people who write these views must either have much better eye sight than me or are just hyper critical.
I can't tell the difference from the source and the recording at the higher quality modes which is good enough for me.
I heard the Mico uses the same MPEG2 encoding engine as Philips.

But do Richer Sounds have any of them in stock? I find that "RS" promise the world but constantly fail to deliver. Also a lot of gray imports pass over the RS counter.
