  1. Hi

I have 40 Divx files (episodes of Mysterious Cities of Gold cartoon) to try and put on one DVD, the 40 files in total add upto about 2.35Gb, so i assumed they would fit onto a dvd-r after i had encoded them in dvd format. I was then going to add a menu so that it would take me to each episode of the cartoon.

I have been using tmpgenc to take each file and encode it to a dvd format file, now what confuses me is that tmpgenc takes each 80mb Divx file and converts it to a file that it 500+mb in size ????? I have tried lowering the bitrat, but it wont go any lower than 2000, and so 500+mb is the smallest file size i can create, and obviously i wont get 40 of them on a DVD-R.

The cartoon is really poor quality anyway, so i dont see why the output from tmpgenc should be so big ???

All i want to do is convert the 40 episodes to dvd format and put them watch them on my TV..

Am i doing anything wrong, or can i use another tool to help me do what i want to do ?. I am really confused....any advice would be greatfully recieved !!!!

Yes. You are doing lots wrong. :c( Sorry but true.

First and biggest mistake - you must not have read much here before you attempted what you're doing. Not too late. You can fix that. :c)

The file size of the originals has absolutely nothing to do with the file size of the DVD mpegs you need to make.

It is all based on the length (HH:MM) of each and what bitrate you choose to encode to. There is a bitrate calculator in TOOLS section on the left for help with that. Also, the audio format you choose makes a difference on final file size.

I'd recommend you DL or bookmark the calculator for later. But go straight to the other resources of info here and read. Start in CONVERT. When you're clear on that, move on to AUTHOR.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.
