I get nothing but errors no matter what format or codec the video is that I'm trying to encode in TMPGenc lately.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled newest version, some problem. I must be missing something. I get the error "File xxx can not open, or unsupported."

I checked codecs, but they are there. What am I missing? Is there something comparable that might work instead?

  2. When I got that error message it turned out that the avi I was using was of the wrong type. I believe there are avi 1 and avi 2. I found a free converter in the tool section and after conversion all worked fine.

If you can't import, open or play DV video in a tool try convert to DV type 2 or Canopus DV(no quality loss).

If you can't import, open or play DV-video in a tool try convert the type1 DV to type 2 DV (no quality loss).
