I apologize if this has been covered somewhere, I searched before posting but haven't found anything conclusive.

Does anyone have problems with NTSC 24p mpeg2 and DVD SP? ffmpegX mpeg2 @ NTSC 29fps will import into DVDSP properly, but 24p gives an invalid framerate error (23.98 rather than 23.976). ffmpegX displays the proper framerate (NTSC Film), but doesn't produce (at least for me) valid output.

29.97 works fine, but you lose the advantages of progressive video. ffmpegX .7.something (early .7) worked fine, but hasn't worked in .8-.9. I've played with hexediting m2v files (the svcd->dvd hack) to check proper framerate, but no luck making it work.

    Suggestions?

Great job with ffmpegx. It produces higher quality (visuall superior) results than Apples origina mpeg2 encoder, or the new Compressor tool. ^5
