  1. I have some Vob files for a dvd that I'm going to burn. The movie is in letter box format. Is there a way to change it movie from letter box to full screen without having to rencode the movie?

Question: when you say "full screen" do you mean full-screen/modified to fit your (square) TV screen? Or anamorphic wide-screen for 16x9 TVs?

So you want to take a wide-screen movie (be it letterboxed, or anamorphic), and crop off the sides to make it "full-screen" on your TV? Is that correct?

  7. VirtualDub has plugins that let you zoom so I think you could do what you want. You would need to convert the video to avi which will be a pretty big file. I would suggest you try it with a short clip first.

I haven't done this but I'm curious if it would work so let us know if you have any success. Real pan and scan is done by having someone watch the movie and move the cropped area around to keep the action centered but in most cases the action is in the center any way.
