With Windows, there is no such thing as security.
Ofcourse, you could do like me. I dual-boot 98se and XP. Only 98 is connected to the web. I have nothing of value on 98. 98 can't see XP partition because of NTFS. All my important stuff is on XP and it can access the 98 partition if I need to.Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
I'll pay for security updates if they charge next to nothing for the actual OS. An article I read a few years back said one reason for the high cost is ongoing research and updates. And if it's another way to keep people from pirating software the pirates will just find a way around it, yarr!

I'll be so glad when computers evolve to the level of Star Trek. You never see anyone on those shows bragging about some new burner they got..or how much ram they have, or what OS is best. It's just....computer.
Everyone will have one in every room....all of them will be online....all the time...with instant access to everything everywhere.
People will look at each other and say....patch? What's a patch?
Then again, we don't have alien races vying to destroy our planet every other week, so I rekkin it's a decent tradeoff lol.
