I captured some clips using power vcr II but when I tried to import them into Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 it would only allow me to insert less than 2 hours (1hour 40 mins) of my captured dvd quality videos.

    Windows: 3.01gb 1 hr 59 mins 41s
    ulead dvd movie factory 5.2gb 1hr 59 mins 27s.

My question is. I used the following capture paramaters to

    resolution 720 x 576
    audio: 224 kbps
    video: 4000kbps
    format: Pal 25fps

which were the default settings for pal dvd capture in power VCR II.

My question is can someone tell me

    1) with the settings above what is the maximum number of minuites of video I can fit on 1 dvd-r?
    and
    2) What setting do I need to change in power vcrs capture perameters, so I can capture and store 2 hours of dvd quality video without the need to re encode anything and auther back to dvd-r movie for playback on my dvd player.

  2. For some reason Ulead is seeing the file as being too large.. these settings should have worked fine for you.. actually at 1h 59min 41sec w/224kb/sec audio you could have used 4867kb/sec for the video.

Try using TMPGenc DVD Author (Free to try, simple to use, haven't had it screw up on me yet.)

  3. And on a completely unrelated topic you should capture at 352x576(or whatever pal is) that way the bits will be able to be allocated with not as much waste, unless you plan on viewing this on your pc, or a HDTV that is.

(Thank you lordsmurf, because of you the internet actually made me smarter)

Why don't you capture with DVD MF itself?
