I've had my DRX510UL for awhile now,. It supports USB 2.0 and Firewire, which my Dell both have integrated. I've tested both, and both "work". But I'm doing basic stuff. Anything I should watch out for to make me lean towards USB vs Firewire?

If you have to ask, probably not. Both have their benefits and limitations, but these usually come into play with heavily stuffed systems and people who use external hard disks and the like.
This has been discussed a few times on the boards and everyone has their preference - it's horses for courses for most people. -
If you got both options, just use firewire. This will free up more bandwidth to other USB stuff you may have.
