Still no release date for the Pioneer DVD-R dual layer!(hurriedly "announced" the day after DVD+R! )

Why has it taken over a year for Pionner to "annouce" the jump to 8x from 4x DVD-R.Still no firm DVDForum ratification for the specs and a marketing disaster if they hit the market in January rather than catch the holiday season.
