you cannot make 5.1 sound out of stereo sound. It can fake it, but it cannot give you true 5.1 sound. It order to do so it would have to put something in the other 3.1 channels that didn't exist, so it fakes it and manufactures the channels. You will have sound comming from all speakers, but it wont exactly be 5.1

a shovel won't encode your audio the way you want either - is a shovel a rip off too? or is it the wrong tool for the job?

the software you linked to is for pro level 5.1 generation, where you have access to multi-track audio masters... not for faking it from a 2-channel source.
