I go back and get the original file, and replace the corrupt one.

  4. Run WinRar and browse to the problem RAR file using the main program window. Right click the RAR file and choose Repair Archive. This might help you.

If WinRar can open the archive and you can view the contents in the programs main windows, it's probably not broken. Just a thought.

Read this excellent guide on the slyck forum (and the two following pages) on how RAR and PAR files work, and if you got this RAR file from a newsgroup and it contains PAR files, you're in luck. If not, you may be able to d/l the PAR (parity) files and repair the archive. I haven't tried to do this myself, but if you need help you can ask on the slyck forum.

There is also good information included with the RAR program itself, if you read the help area. If a repair archive is included you can fix it yourself, but most do not include this repair archive either out of laziness or because it increases the size of the file. Obviously that's undesirable for something that takes so long to download.
Hope that gets you going in the right direction.

  6. If your version of Rar is out of date & you try to extract new images you get corrupt file message.
