Help to unlock one of the files

Here is the dilemma, I tried to backup dvd to dvdr and using various programs: DVDdecrypter, Smartstripper, CloneDVD, I get various errors anywhere error to read certain file or error to read dvd or in case of Smartstripper I get that one of the big video files pertaining to the main movie is locked, and use the player to unlock it message. I am not sure what it means. The dvd plays fine though. I use Pioneer A06. Any suggestions appreciated.

Play the DVD in your software player. While the main movie is playing, try to rip the disk. This often works, because the DVD has unlocked its own files for you.

Aha, I thought about it. How far into the movie you have to be or just get it going. Would it work simultaneously though ripping and playing?

I usually let it play a minute or so. And rip and play at the same time.
