  1. Hi

I have a movie in Divx 5.1 and wants it in Divx 4.12 but cant have both codec in at the same time. I would NOT like to convert to another codec and then back to Divx 4.12, but perhaps it's the only way.
    Please help..

I have 4 divx version currently installed, and two are available from the codec list. Just try installing them from oldest to newest versions. Re-encode using VirtualDub, and select the appropriate codec from the list.

If your machine won't allow that, then re-encode your DivX using the Huffman codec, which is lossless, and then re-encode to DivX 4.

I should ask, why you would want to change the encoding? You won't increase quality, in fact, you'll decrease it by re-encoding to DivX 4, just as a by-product of the re-encode.

You can also just try using the FourCC changer, although I haven't tried it going from 5 to 4. Most people use it to switch from XviD to DivX and vice versa. It changes the codec used to play back your AVI. You can find it in the tools section. This method won't require a re-encode, and takes only seconds. Again, it would just depend on why you wanted to re-encode in the first place
