  1. I am using Ulead MF2 and trying to burn a video I extracted from my TiVo. The file is a 3.5GB Mpeg and Ulead even states so on the final screen. It says 3.5GB/4.4GB so I should be OK.

When I try to burn it gets to the Finalizing VOB stage and then says "Disc space is not enough. Please try another disc."

I installed some size patch from the ULEAD site but still no go.

    Any ideas?

It could be that MF2 is trying to either convert your video or audio for you to MPEG-2 even if it is already DVD complaint (I am assuming it is).

The most likely cause is that MF2 is trying to convert your audio to LPCM audio and that always increases the bitrate by A LOT.

There is an option somewhere in MF2 called something like "DO NOT CONVERT COMPLAINT FILES"

Make sure that is check marked and make sure you original file really IS compliant.

    That should solve the problem.

Often times MF2 will not like video that it doesn't encode it self. There often seems to be little ryhme or reason to this. Sometimes there is no work around.

Well the REAL work around is to use another DVD authoring program. If you can use MF2 then you can use TMPGEnc DVD Author which ... as my point is ... is easy to use BUT it works MUCH better than MF2

I gave up on MF2 a LONG time ago.
