I never thought this would happen. I found a DVD player that refuses to play of all things RITEK discs properly. A customer of mine has a Toshiba that REFUSES to play Riteks without them freezing and skipping after a few minutes. And it ONLY does this with Ritek discs, both + and -. I tried all options. I took a single movie and backed it up onto a Princo -R, a Lead Data -R, a Memorex -R, and TWO Ritek -R's (silver top AND arrow top). The player played ALL the discs without skipping/freezing, EXCEPT for the two Riteks. Then I gave those same discs to another customer and asked him to play them all. All worked on his player fine, including the Riteks. Then I did the same with all the above named brands in +R format, and the Toshiba played them all EXCEPT for the two +R Riteks. Go figure. This is a DVD player that I will NEVER buy, nor would recommend anyone else to buy it.

  2. Now, I have to disagree with you. I have Toshiba and using NEC burner with Ritek G04 DVD -R. I have almost 100 DVDs and none give me problem. My neighbor have Pioneer and Panasonic and occasionally having problem watching them with freezing or even stuck in the middle of the movie. So you can not say all Toshiba DVD players are bad. Im sure there are more people will back me up on this.

  6. Most Toshiba DVD players don't play any CDR or DVDR discs. Just like the pre 2001 Sonys. You're lucky that the machine even tries to play it. Most will just say there's no disc in the drawer.
