  1. I have an e80, have only burned one disk so far. It plays fine in my Panny progressive scan dvd player, but won't play in an older Toshiba player or in my year old Dell laptop dvd player. Toshiba says disc error, laptop says insert disk and won't recognize. Is this most likely a media issue or an issue with the e80 and the way it creates the disk? The media I'm using is called optical quantum 4x which I've never heard of. I tried to buy Ritek g04's from a seller on eBay but he couldn't guarantee it to be compatible with my recorder. But, he said he could guarantee the Optical Quantum's to be compatible with my recorder. Should I return these and insist on the Riteks or could this be an issue that changing the media won't resolve?

    Thanks!

  2. I had previously read that post. Actually, I've been back to read it a few times. After that post, I'm considering buying a dvd-burner for my pc. BUT, I've posted many times with questions here and can't seem to get a response. I'm curious as to what the BEST bruner for the money is for me to use. I was thinking about the LG 4040. Any thoughts?

The other thing I'm curious about whether it's the source of my problem is my media. I made a disk on these and it played fine on the dvd recorder as well as a year old panny progressive scanner dvd player. Could it still be media issues causing it to not play on older machines? It would certainly be cheaper to try another media than to buy a burner.

    What's your opinion?

    Thanks

  3. 1. For questions about DVD Writers (PC burner), you need to go to "DVD Writers" part of this forum or do research at DVD Writers list here (left under OTHER). I have Sony DRU-500A and it is working great.

    2. To answer second part of your post... Try burn to media that is supported (recomended) by Panasonic (call them, read web). If problem is still there, than it is not media. I am convinced that it is Authoring problem as I described in my previouse post.

Sorry that I can't help you more.

  4. I called Panasonic. They said the recommended dvd-r,-rw and -ram media is TDK, Pioneer and of course Panasonic. Because so many people have had good luck with Ritek G04's, I've ordered some of them along with one TDK and one Pansonic disk from cdrdvdmedia.com. To test, I'll burn a flick from the hard drive for one movie, recorded the exact same way on each of the 3 to see which gives the best compatibility in different standalone dvd players. I ordered them 2nd day air and I'm on the east coast so I guess I should have them friday. I'll post back my results Friday night.
