Then it's most likely isn't a wav after all, since TMPGEnc really loves wav as audio input.
Where does this wav come from?

How exactly did you do this? Direct Stream or Full processing? If the first, it will indeed look like you got a wav, as VirtualDub takes the audio stream (may it be MP3 or AC3 or ...) as is, adds some wav headers and a .wav extension.
As you understand, this is still no wav file.
A (true) wav for the average movie (1-1.5 hrs) tends to be about 1 GB-ish. If your wav is quite smaller, it most likely is not in wav format, and has to be decoded to wav before it can be used by TMPGEnc.
You can get info on what codec is used for audio compression in VirtualDub: File -> File Information or use GSpot.

200 MB for 50 mins is almost certainly not a true wav file, at least not with any higher sampling frequency! Check what codec's used as audio encoder in the wav. If it's mp3, then just rename audio.wav to audio.mp3 and convert to wav (CDEx). If it's ac3, you have to run it thru ac3fix between "rename" and "convert".

  7. Hi again.
I found out that it is ac3
I tried to make a full process in virtualdub, but i get an error(could not find decompressor) i download ac3filer but nothing works.
    Please HELP
By the way in virualdub audio fileinformation it says unknown tag(2000)
    That must be ac3 right???
How do i get virtualdub to recognize the ac3???

You don't. You can run the AC3 file that you extracted through AC3 fix and convert it to wav like Mats suggested or you can use Goldwave. Just load your avi and save to create a wav file.

You already have it! That's your 200 MB file. Rename to ???.ac3, run it thru ac3fix, then convert to wav with headac3he.
A simpler solution, as already pointed out, is simply to load the AVI in Goldwave and save wav...
