I am very new to this. I cannot get Nero to recognize my Pioneer 106 writer. I rip the movie to my hard drive but when I open up Nero burning rom it will only display for a cd copy not a DVD. The same problem in Nero express, I have tried tellig Nero to find the 106 but no luck.
I am using Win XP pro.

My only advice (because I don't use Nero) is to go into your original post, hit EDIT button, and change your subject title to reflect your question. Like "Nero does not see Pioneer 106".

Many very knowledgeable and helpful people skip over those that only say "help" even if you say "please". :c)

    Good luck.

  3. Is your problem:

    A) Nero sees the Pioneer106, but won't burn DVDs.
    B) Won't see the Pioneer106 at all.

  4. I have a couple of suggestions. First, does your computer see your burner in My Computer? If it does not, then your burner is not set up correctly in your Bios or IDE channel, Mater/Slave etc. Second, do you have all the latest updates applied to your Nero? Your Nero software may not have all the updates it needs to recognize the drive as a DVD burner. Hope this helps.

Nero only sees drives that have been around since our version was released. Nero 5.10.x won't see my NEC 1300. If you crawl around the Nero site, you can find a drive list. You drop that into Nero and it should recognize your drive.

Alternatives are to install 6.0.13 .

Its only Nero that does not see the 106. I am using v5.10x. I had a look on the nero site but I can't find anything.

  7. Just wondering if the version of nero that you are using has a pull down menu that you can select the dvd burner applications. At first when i started using nero i thought that it would not burn dvd's until i looked at the pull down menu. I'm using version 5.5.10.32 my 106. Worst comes to worst you may have to upgrade to a version that is more compatible with your drive.

Version 6.0.13 recognizes my DVDRW. However, it won't take my 5.5 without charging me for an upgrade I don't want to pay for. So, I quit using Nero and now I use IMG Tools and DVDDecryptor. 1 extra step with classic, but quite painless, and no coasters.

  9. some versions of nero will only work with the drive they shipped with eg if yours came free with say a plaxtor 122 then it is "locked" to only burn on that drive. referred to as an OEM version.

The 106RD is an Acer oem Pioneer 106, it's easy enough to flash it back to a genuine Pioneer 106D with a new firmware (at "the firmware page").
